Editing the page link for the Visualforce Tab

It may sometimes become necessary to edit the Visualforce page link of a Visualforce tab. When the user goes to Setup -> Create -> Tabs and edits a Visualforce tab, they are able to change only the label of the Visualforce custom tab. The content or the page is non-editable in the Salesforce UI.  You can see from the below that the highlighted content link is non-editable.

Custom tabIn this scenario, one thing that we can do is to delete this tab and create a new one with the desired content. But this can become difficult to handle if there are lots of profiles and apps associated with the Visualforce tab. The best alternative to do this task is by using the Force.com IDE.

Using the Force.com IDE, the user can change the content of the custom tab as well which was not possible through the Salesforce UI.  A screenshot of the Force.com IDE is as shown below –

Once you update the page node with your new page name then the link of tab will be automatically updated in Salesforce. You can see this from the below screenshot –Custom tab
