In this blog, we will discuss about the solution of compile error “user-defined type not defined”. Sage 300 gives ability to modify any screens I.e. customize a standard screen functionality or adding a new functionality to the standard screen.

When a developer adds a new functionality to an existing screen, it goes through a developer-testing phase where the new functionality is checked thoroughly whether it works fine and in a directed manner or not.
Sometimes, while testing the modified functionality we might face an issue, which says, “User-defined type not defined” and this error can stop our testing and delay the project, this need to be taken care and issue should be resolved. Refer below screen shot for your reference.
In order to resolve the issue we need to first understand the error reason, the warning message is self-explanatory by reading the warning message from the above screenshot we can say that the User-defined type is not defined.
Please follow below steps to resolve this issue.
- Go to menu tools->reference
- Check if there are any missing reference.
- If there are any missing references, add those references and re-compile the code again. This shall resolve the issue, but sometimes by adding those references also, the error continues, this is because we have used some functionality in the OCX but not added a required reference.
- Select the library “Microsoft Scripting Runtime”
- Click on the “OK” button and close the dialog.
- Now you can compile the code again and see the issue is resolved and no warning message appears.
