Cross-Browser Compatibility in Sage CRM 7.1 SP2

By | October 6, 2012

As we all know Cross-browser Compatibility refers to the ability of a website, web application, and HTML construct or client-side scripts to function in widely huge number of browsers that came into the picture in modern world. New service pack SP2 to Sage CRM v7.1 supports the most recent versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari v5 (on OSX). Most of you are aware, previous versions of Sage CRM were optimized for Internet Explorer. Cross browser compatibility is focused on the end user experience, i.e. the Main Menu area. The user experience and functionality throughout the Main Menu is consistent across Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer (IE).
Core features where IE required a plug-in, such as Document Drop and Mail Merge, have been enhanced to provide superior adapted functionality in the non-IE browsers.
There are still some other minor differences to look out for in the Main Menu area which are as follows:
Hot Keys – the documented hot keys, to create a new task from the Calendar tab are:
1. IE-use Alt + T
2. Firefox – use Alt + Shift + Key and then press Enter.
3. Chrome – use Alt + Shift + Key
4. Safari – use Alt + Key
Send Using Outlook button – this is not supported in non-IE browsers, and has been removed from the New E-mail page. Please refer the below chrome screen shot for the same where only send E-mail button is present.

Drop files here… zone – this is available in Firefox and Chrome, but not in Safari (or IE). This will help to attach single or multiple files by using the drag and drop feature. Please refer the screen shot for the same in chrome:

Multiple file select and upload – this is available in Firefox and Chrome, but not Safari (or IE). This can be done by using both drop files here to attach them button or by using the Add File button same can be seen in the above screen shot.
Also there are some areas of the product which are currently only supported in IE only which are as follows:
1. The Administration menu
2. Self Service Demo Web Site
3. Classic Outlook Integration
4. Outlook Plug-in for Exchange
5. Solo
6. CTI
7. Lite Outlook Plug-in (Cloud)
8. Crystal Reports
9. Classic Dashboard
