In the Spring’14 release notes, Salesforce introduced us to a mobile app that is designed specially for salesforce administrators. This app is called SalesforceA. It is available for free to download on the Google Play Store for Android phones and the Apple App Store for Apple iphones.
While the Salesforce1 app is designed for general users of the salesforce organization, SalesforceA is targeted towards Salesforce administrators only. In order to use the application, the user needs to have the Manage Users permission.
After logging in to the app, the main screen displays the number of frozen users and locked out users. Tapping into any of these sections will display the list of those users. The administrator can search for any user using the search field provided at the top. The administrator can edit the standard fields for the user record as well as perform other operations such as Reset Password, Freeze, Deactivate and modify Permission Sets. All these can be done when the administrator is away from his desk by accessing the mobile app.
Even though the mobile app does not provide all the features that the administrator has while accessing salesforce on their desk using the web version, the mobile app does provide access to frequently used features. Hence it is desirable for every salesforce administrator to have this app on their mobile devices. As Salesforce keeps rolling out newer releases, we may see additional features getting added to the SalesforceA app.
