How to Organize Your Inventory After Quality Control in Sage X3 ERP

Suppose you’ve meticulously checked every item during Quality Control, and now you want to separate the ripe bananas from the mushy ones. But hold on! Before you celebrate (with a non-mouldy banana), there’s the not-so-glamorous task of figuring out where to put everything. Fear not; this short text will guide you to a post-quality control location-allocation in Sage X3.

After quality control, products may be assigned different Statuses and placed in different locations. To do this, follow the following steps.

Navigate Common Data > Product tables Menus > Location types

Create Location types and Location

Location types are used to avoid dumping stock into one giant pile. They group locations with similar characteristics e.g. authorized statuses or purposes.

In our example, we want to separate Mushy Bananas and the ripe ones. You can always be creative with the names.

We have created a location type and Named it (Return Store)

Now let’s create locations in this location type. Still, in the Location Types section, click on the “Create Location” button.

Now for the moment, you’ve been waiting for!

Navigate All > Stock > Quality Control section. This is where the magic happens.

After you’ve completed your quality checks, you can assign each product its rightful place in your meticulously organized warehouse (We can cover how to perform Quality Controls/ Analysis Next).

On the Lines level at the Quality control screen click the three-action button as shown below to enter the Quality control details

Behold! Above is a glimpse into our organized post-quality control paradise. As you can see, our bananas have found their designated havens based on their ripeness.
